Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. In Chinese culture and East Asian countries, the festival is commonly referred to as the Spring Festival.
The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February. In 2021, the first day of the Chinese New Year will be on Friday, 12 February, which is the Year of the Ox.

Use the tip and side of your brush to make the different strokes needed to create the pandas.
Three things are important in drawing pandas. 1. One is to make sure you have two plates of ink, one with the dark ink and one with lighter ink (mix it with a little bit of water with your brush). 2. Another one is to dip the brush in light ink to draw the face and body lines (the final shape looks like a numerical 9). 3. Finally, dip the tip of the brush in the dark ink to draw ears, eyes, arms and feet of pandas. The contrast gives the painting more depth and therefore has a better visual effect. |
